Helena was a survivor who fought through decades of hardship with incredible strength and resilience. Yes, her death was violent and graphic, but her story is told through light-hearted stories of her many qualities, through front row seats of courtroom drama, and through the painful memories and heartbreaking emotions of her daughter, Maria. Helena’s story needed to be told with the same courage she showed every day of her life, and that Maria still carries with her so many years later.
